SADLY CRINGILA PARK COMMUNITY GARDEN HAS FOLDED!
We ran our Garden for 8 years with many vandalism issues. We kept plodding along all this time until last year early 2015....our new shipping container full of tools etc were burnt to the ground, twice!
Wollongong City Council is taking away what is left and then bringing back to the natural grass to be mowed.
Cringila Park Community Garden was a friendly organic garden which is located in the Cringila Park, Lockwood St, CRINGILA. The wood-fire oven is out of order, the chimney's are ruined. The positive outcome the group is still operating and teaching skills to operate a wood-fired bread oven at Port Kembla Community Centre (renamed OCP - Our Community Project).
Workshops held every 2nd Tuesday of a month. If interested in having a go at baking fresh bread or pizza's please contact Our Community Project on 42763433 to book.
The gardener's worked with the community, organizing excursions and workshops on sustainable gardening. The project was successful in bringing together culturally diverse residents, strengthening community ties, providing access to culturally appropriate and traditional foods and promoting sustainable gardening practices.
